5 Resolutions To Improve Your Cycling Performance

improve your cycling performanceIt’s New Year and I am sure that some of you have made a New Year’s Resolution list already. However to succeed I would highly recommend doing one (or maybe all) of the things that I have listed down below which will help you improve your cycling performance and your overall fitness.

1 – Hire A Coach

Hiring a professional cycling coach is the best investment for anyone who wants to improve their cycling. Going out on your own rides will help you at first but having a coach will help you set up a program to be a stronger and faster cyclist. Having a cycling coach will also help you stay motivated and accountable.  If you don’t have the time to get a coach then maybe try an online training program.

2 – Training with Power

Power meters record every bit of your ride data making it a great tool to measure your training real time. It’s really helpful for your training since it provides data that allows you to compare your performance against other people. Having power meters also helps your coach see what areas you need to improve in your cycling fitness.

3 – Cook your own food

Home-cooked food is far healthier than food from cafes and restaurants. Cooking your own food may be time-consuming, but if you do it you will know what you’re putting into your food [making it healthier] plus it can help you save money in the long run. If making a weekly meal plan and grocery list is too much of a task for you, then the Bike Blitz program is your saviour. It has a weekly detailed meal plans, easy to follow shopping lists, easy nutritious and tasty recipes, and healthy snacks to take out on your rides and a pre/post nutrition guide.

4 – Discover a new cycling route

If you are getting tired of cycling the same routes, why not try and discover a new one? Cycling on an unexplored path every once and a while is a great way to spice up your motivation and a break from the ordinary. Who knows? Maybe the joy of discovering a new cycling route will give you the inspiration to ride more and further.

5 – Do strength, flexibility, and stability training

If you are training for a race, your most obvious move would be to train and ride more to improve your time, distance and fitness. However, as a cyclist, doing that will often lead to postural imbalances and injuries. Doing a strength, flexibility and stability training program alongside your cycling will help you develop your leg and core strength, resulting in having fewer injuries and body aches. Bike Blitz program includes these types of exercises, it can be done in the gym or in the comfort of your own home. This program isn’t just for advanced cyclists, it’s has options for beginners and intermediate cyclists as well.
