Lack of sleep can make you fat

Sleeping

Not getting enough sleep can play havoc with your hormones.

Lack of sleep affects growth hormone which helps to regulate body fat and lean tissue as well as boosting your immune system, building; muscle, bone and connective tissue.

It also affects the hunger hormones Leptin which tells your brain when to stop eating. Lack of sleep leads to low levels of Leptin and a high chance of overeating and weight gain!

Get to bed before 11pm, turn off your phone, computer, TV and dim the lights at least an hour before you plan on going to sleep. There are some supplements that can help with sleep. Just one of the supplements that can help is a good quality magnesium, this helps to calm the central nervous system and lowers stress in your system.

If you have trouble getting off to sleep or if you wake up at odd times of the night then other supplements may suit you better.
