Rehab and Injury Prevention Program

No matter what age you are, bouncing back after illness and injury can be a difficult journey.

Injury Rehabilitation

Have you been injured or ill in the past which has caused you to become less active than you would like to be?

Maybe you’ve been thinking about starting to building strength and fitness, but you don’t want to injure yourself further or encounter another set back?

Whatever your circumstances – trust me. I get it.

If you dream about moving more freely, being pain free and having the confidence to get back to doing the things you love, then we need to make a time to talk.

I am SUPER passionate about injury rehabilitation not only because I’m a Rehab Personal Trainer, but also because I have been through my own journey of injury rehabilitation.

I went through a not very successful hip surgery when I was 36. It took about a year to be able to move freely again and be able to walk any kind of distance which was really difficult for me.

It was through gentle and regular exercise that I got the strength back to be able to move again without pain.

Believe me, I went through the frustrations and pain of not being able to walk properly for over a year and know how that can really impact on your social life and mental health.

I had to mentally coach myself through the nervousness of doing things for the first time again.

Overcoming the “I CAN’T DO IT” Mentality

When you’re injured, it’s easy to feel and focus on all the things that you can’t do, without thinking (or even knowing) what you CAN do. Besides knowing the ‘what’ and ‘how’ you should be safely rehabing your body, there is a journey of starting to trust your body again – and release the fear of hurting yourself again or the fear of making something worse.

The key thing that you need to know is that, with a few small changes, you don’t have to live in fear anymore. Injury rehabilitation is as much about improving strength and fitness from injuries as it is about getting moving, feeling great and being able to see a better future.

Even if you have been sidelined for decades with an old injury, I would love to work with you to help you achieve a longer, better quality of life filled with more joy, energy and the activities you love – and have you feeling confident in your body AND your mind.

Whether you have an old or chronic injury that is preventing you from training, or something new that you need to be gentle with, I want to support you through your rehab journey.

Together, we will implement your CUSTOMISED program which involves:

– Regular movement assessments to make sure exercises are performed correctly and keep you making progress.

– Exercise training to specifically address your injury and imbalances, avoiding getting injured by doing the wrong thing.

– Mindset coaching for coping with pain and the fear behind pushing your body past injuries.

Testimonials

"I started working with Nicki 7 weeks ago and this girl has totally changed my life!"

“I had surgery back in January after being left with next to no cartilage in my knee from years of playing netball. The surgery was pretty intense leaving me non weight bearing for a couple of months.

7 months on I was walking again but stairs and jumping were totally out of the question and what I could manage came with an awful amount of pain and swelling.

I started working with Nicki 7 weeks ago and this girl has totally changed my life!…

The improvements in my movement are unbelievable, not only am I walking and climbing stairs pain free, I’m also running again.

I would have never imagined I would be in this position after such a short amount of time. Thank you Nicki from the bottom of my heart. I’m looking forward to seeing where we go from here….”

"I got in touch with Nicki and it has made an incredible difference"

Byron was born with a rare vascular disease and has had a challenging start to life with many surgeries on his legs, growing up in a wheelchair and then using crutches for years. He is now walking up to 8km and doing really well.

“I got in touch with Nicki and it has made an incredible difference, not only in weight loss, making him stronger and moving, but also in his confidence, he is just a different person.”

– Lee Irvine (Byron’s Mum)

“If you need help with any movement recovery I can highly recommend Nicki's thoughtful and educated approach."

“I first met Nicki with a Frozen Shoulder, after 2 steroid injections and very limited movement in my left arm.

Over the past 5 months she has helped every week with mobilisation exercises and stretches. My movement has increased significantly to the point that putting on my t-shirt and sleeping at night is now trouble free. My surgeon commented after my 3 month catch up that he was surprised at how quickly my movement had improved.

I also appreciate the effort to tailor my training, catering for lack of movement in my arm, that still allows me to enjoy my workouts.

If you need help with any movement recovery I can highly recommend Nicki's thoughtful and educated approach.”
